In 2007 SMRC opened a Business School for Rural Women to train rural women in business management techniques required to make them economically independent. The School started with four Certificate courses of three months each. These courses begin with an assessment of their knowledge on their rights and needs, leadership training, skill training as per choice, accountancy and management of books, and entrepreneurship management. Three courses have been conducted with forty women trained per course. The entrepreneurship development included computer training including use of internet, video documentary making. The other skills have included henna application, mat making, weaving and rural skills. The three courses have been conducted in Chhatisgarh, West Bengal and Orissa. The fourth course is being conducted in Andhra Pradesh.
