The ‘Community Based Reproductive and Child Health project’ in Nowrangpur district provided the opportunity to reach to the grassroots. A study on “Adolescent Sexual Behavior” was well received by several experts, the District administration and researchers.
Village leaders training, Community Health Education Program, Staff Developmental Program, Traditional Birth Attendant Training, Adolescent Girls, Adolescent Boys, Clean drinking water and sanitation, Distribution of agricultural seeds, formation of SHG groups, detection and prevention of infant disabilities, distribution of medical mosquito nets programs of Aids awareness, advocacy on reproductive rights of women etc. are the major intervention in the district.
Awareness of good health and social practices to prevent disability is the core aim of the project conducted in the Nimapara block served a number of disabled children and adults. In addition awareness programs have been continued including orientation of CBR workers, formation of SHGs.
During the year 481 disabled persons have been identified in the 56 villages of the 3 Panchayats of Nimapara Block. They have been medically assessed and different services have been provided to them. A total number of 89 clients are being given home based Physiotherapy on a regular basis. 129 have been given aids and appliances. 74 have received Disability certificates. During the disability week an Art and craft workshop was organised where 6 trades were exhibited and 70 participants all disabled attended the workshop.
